US INFRASTRUCTURE BILL: OPPORTUNITIES FOR GEOSPATIAL INDUSTRY

0700-0815 HRS I FRIDAY, JUNE 3, 2022

BACKGROUND

On 6th November 2021, Congress signed the US$ 1.2 trillion Bipartisan Infrastructure Deal. The Bill aims to rebuild America’s roads, bridges, and rails, expand access to clean drinking water, ensure every American has access to high-speed internet, tackle the climate crisis, and advance environmental justice. The bill, now formalized into law as the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, is foreseen to be a crucial part of the USA’s economic agenda. The infrastructure bill presents a tremendous opportunity for the geospatial industry to capitalize on infrastructure investments, particularly for developing sustainable and resilient infrastructure.

The infrastructure bill will lead various infrastructure agencies of America (transportation agencies, energy departments, water departments, etc.) to start planning and innovating how they shall improve the efficiency, productivity, and compliance of their infrastructure assets. The bill presents an opportunity for the geospatial industry to enable the digital transformation of the infrastructure agencies and departments to protect and maintain their assets. Accurate and precise geospatial/location data, real-time dashboards, and mobile applications will be the need of the hour for the infrastructure agencies and departments, to develop efficient and effective workflows.

The breakfast roundtable on, ‘US Infrastructure Bill: Opportunities for Geospatial Industry’ will bring together leaders from the geospatial industry ecosystem and infrastructure stakeholders to discuss and deliberate the opportunities for the geospatial industry in President Biden’s infrastructure development agenda.
