BACKGROUND
The Architecture, Engineering and Construction (AEC) industry continues to undergo a rapid transformation especially now with the onset of COVID. In these unprecedented times, the sector, often tagged as one of the least digitalized sectors, has been pushed to accelerate the adoption of digital tools to automate the project lifecycle as much as possible. The industry has thus embarked on a journey to embrace remote working and automation tools to limit the impact of any external factor as the pandemic going forward.
It has now become imperative for the AEC industry to imbibe the cutting-edge technologies available at their disposal. These technologies include drones, augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR), building information modelling (BIM), digital twins, Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence (AI), Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR), advanced LiDAR systems, robots, among many other things. Today, the AEC industry is demanding these tools to plan, design, build and operate and maintain in a post-COVID environment to be more collaborative without on-site visits. The industry is, thus, refocusing and accelerating its digital investments in those mentioned above selective modern technologies to increase the agility of their organizations to deliver projects on time.
In this context, the time is ripe for the geospatial and BIM technology providers to continue playing a significant role in the AEC industry’s digital transformation with innovations, new business models and also taking advantage of emerging frontier technologies.
GEOBUIZ ENGAGE
Understanding that the AEC industry is undergoing a digital transformation, driven by the integrated solutions, Geospatial Media and Communications is organizing a series of virtual-based high-level panel discussions, namely, GeoBuiz Engage, to understand the construction technology market globally. Conceived as a series of topical theme-based panel discussions, GeoBuiz Engage will be held across North America, Europe and the Asia Pacific to understand the geospatial and BIM technology trends; industry directions, market evolution and the transforming user behavior. Broadly, the Engage will include deliberations on:
- Increasing penetration of geospatial and BIM data and solutions in AEC in post-COVID
- Latest technology innovations and most profound business models in the technology value chain
- Critical regions of future growth regional strengths and challenges of adoption
- Expected future line of services and solutions, and vital factors driving these trends
